Belgian Vogelpiks > Hang a Piks Board
How to Hang a Vogelpiks Board
Hanging a piks board is not that difficult but there are some things you will want to consider before you start drilling holes in your wall. As with any game involving accuracy, you are bound to miss your target. When you miss a Belgian darts board you will be putting dart holes in your wall so we recommend finding a cork board that you can mount around the board to catch any stray shots. You can also find cork boards combined with dry erase or chalk boards that can serve as a scoreboard combination.

Supplies & Steps to Hang the Piks Board
- Stud finder or drywall anchors — Locate the studs on your wall using a stud finder. It is recommended to find a stud in order to ensure your board can securely be mounted to the wall. However, if you can't find a stud where you want to hang it, drill holes a little smaller than some drywall anchors and use them for added support.
- Measuring tape & pencil — Mark the wall at 62 inches from the floor which will be the height to the center bulls eye of the board. If you mount the board to a cork board first, mark a spot on the frame that lines up with the height of the bulls eye. Then, simply align the mark on the frame and the wall to hang.
- Drill & drill bits — Use your drill and drill bits to drill small pilot (starter) holes where you marked off the 62 inch height on the wall.
- Wood screws — Use wood screws to secure down your board at the proper height.
Piks Board Height
The Belgian darts board should be hung at 62 inches from the floor to the center of the bulls eye. It is recommended to mark the wall off at 62 inches before you hang the board in order to ensure it is set to the right height. If you measure it from the floor with the board already against the wall, you will likely have a slight angle on the tape measure that will throw off your measurements. |
Throw Line Distance
Your throw line should be marked at 72 inches or 6 feet back behind the front face of the board. The throw line isn't a flat line it is a semi-circle to allow the player to rotate in front of the board at different angles. If you are unsure how to draw a perfect semi-circle, simply cut a string that is 72 inches, tape it on the floor and trace it as you swing it around the front of the board. |
