Belgian Vogelpiks Shooting Stance

Toe the Throw Line Stance
The original Belgian piks game rules stated that the player must place their front shooting toe on the throw line that is marked 72 inches back behind the face of the board. This is similar to the standard dart rules where you can't place a foot over the line. Depending on who you play the game with or what region you are located in, you may see an alternative stance where one heel must be touching the throw line, as shown below.

Heel the Throw Line Stance
The heel the line stance started as players tried to make the game a little less difficult for beginners and has now gained popularity in certain areas. The back heel of one foot is required to touch the line and you may lean into the board. While this stance gets you closer to the board, the leaning tends to throw of some players' balance when taking their shot.

Side Stance the Throw Line
Some players feel like they have a better shoulder angle at the board when the stand sideways. This stance is very popular in darts and is used less often by avid piks players.
