About Belgian Vogelpiks
Much like darts, Vogelpiks is a game that involves throwing a handheld arrow at a board to test your accuracy. When people are first introduced to the sport, their first reaction is to say this is a simplified version of darts because you stand closer to the board. In reality, Vogelpiks is a complex game due to a number of factors:

Vogelpiks History
Vogelpiks originated in Belgium as a smaller form of archery that dates way back to the Middle Ages. People invented the game to hone their accuracy skills and challenge their opponents. The board was originally made from pressed rye straw with varying colors for each of the circles separated by metal bands. The original Belgian dart boards were 7 inches in diameter and are now also made in 9 inches. The piks themselves were made of Birchwood, the feathers are select turkey feathers and lead weight resides inside the wood just before the polished steel tip. Today, a variety of woods and feather types are used to make the pik darts. |
